Our Team

We bring different perspectives to the table, but we're united by a shared determination to support people who — for a variety of reasons, many outside their control — are struggling with loneliness and social isolation.

Supporting my community has always mattered deeply to me. As a District Councillor in Surrey during Covid, I saw firsthand how many people were living lonely, isolated lives, struggling to form meaningful connections. Share Solace exists to change that — giving everyone in our community the chance to connect through a shared experience that's interesting, enjoyable, and perhaps a little bit challenging. Out of that shared experience comes the opportunity to build strong, hopeful, lasting connections. That is my hope, and my passion.

We are committed to ensuring that our activities meet the needs of everyone and are open to all people aged 18 and over, regardless of gender or ability. To support this commitment, we have appointed a number of ‘Ambassadors’ to represent and support people of different ages and abilities. They will work closely with us to help develop and expand our range of activities, ensuring that we are inclusive and accessible to as wide a range of people as possible.

Helen Logan

I am honoured to be an ambassador for people living with disability and chronic pain, and to support Shared Solace in ensuring its activities are accessible, inclusive and welcoming to people of all abilities.

Together, we can break down barriers, create genuine connection and build a community where everyone feels they belong.

Kay Sweeney

Kay brings a wealth of life and professional experience to Shared Solace. Throughout her career, she has always been a people-focused, solution-oriented person, with a genuine interest in listening to others and understanding their individual needs.

Kay has also experienced many of the pressures and challenges that life can bring. She understands how easily we can put pressure on ourselves and how lonely and isolating difficult periods can sometimes feel. These experiences have helped shape her passion for wellbeing and positive mental health.

In 2019, Kay qualified as a Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) Practitioner, developing a deeper understanding of how our thoughts, emotions and behaviours can influence the way we experience life.

For Kay, this journey has reinforced the importance of self-awareness, confidence, resilience and connection. She believes that being listened to, feeling understood and having supportive people around us can make a real difference.

Kay and Shared Solace

Kay is delighted to be part of Shared Solace, whose mission strongly reflects her own values.

Shared Solace aims to reduce loneliness and social isolation by creating opportunities for people to connect through shared experiences, supportive spaces and community activities that build confidence, resilience and a sense of belonging.

Kay hopes to use her NLP training, life experience and natural ability to connect with people to help create an environment where everyone feels welcome, valued and heard.

She is passionate about encouraging people to reconnect with others and discover that they are not alone. Whether through conversation, shared activities, walks, creative experiences or community events, Kay believes that small moments of connection can have a powerful impact on wellbeing.

Above all, Kay wants to help Shared Solace create a community where people can build friendships, grow in confidence, support one another and feel that they belong.

Emma Getty

Being part of Shared Solace gives me the opportunity to use my own experiences to help other young people feel more confident, included and connected. As a young person living with a disability, I understand some of the barriers that can make it difficult to meet people, try new things and feel a sense of belonging.

As part of Shared Solace, I can support young people by encouraging them to step outside their comfort zone, build confidence and discover new interests and friendships. I hope to be someone who listens, encourages and helps create opportunities where young people feel comfortable being themselves.

Im looking forward to help create positive experiences that bring young people together, reduce isolation and show that disability should never be a barrier to friendship, participation or trying new things.

As a young person living with a disability, I understand how important it is to have opportunities to meet new people, build confidence and feel a genuine sense of belonging. I know that disability can sometimes create barriers, but I also believe that with the right support and opportunities, those barriers don’t have to limit friendships, experiences or what we can achieve.

I am pleased to support the mission of Shared Solace in tackling loneliness and social isolation within our community.

Living with Spina Bifida and chronic pain has given me a personal understanding of how isolating life can be. As a wheelchair athlete, coach and disability inclusion advocate, I am passionate about helping people feel seen, valued and empowered.
