We plan to run these events in 2027, dates to be determined.

PaddleMaking

This is a two day course aimed at providing tuition and support in the carving of a wooden paddle and the use of traditional hand tools.

At the beginning of the course participants are provided with a paddle blank and at the close they take away their finely fashioned paddle. The aim is, of course, to leave with a finished piece but this is dependant on the participants progress over the two days.

The only power tools used are belt and orbital sanders, used only for the final finishing.

Pottery Classes

Wheel throwing 3-hour classes for 1-4 people, with our master potter.

Spoon Carving course

This workshop is a 4-hour introduction to the universal and ancient art of carving a wooden utensil – usually a spoon.  Our master woodworker will take you through the basic tools and equipment, the safety issues relating to handling edged tools and then guide you through the process as you carve your own masterpiece.

Coracle / Boyne Curragh making course

This workshop is a two day introduction to the universal and ancient art of skin-on-frame boat building.

Our master boat builder will guide you through the process of building the most simple of traditional watercraft, starting with the materials and tools, and finishing with a functional small boat.
